The project concerns the conversion of a commercial real estate complex in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, to house the headquarters of Le Figaro newspaper.
The two buildings, built between 1914 and 1930, are contiguous and already unified, and have been used as offices since their origin. They are built around an inner courtyard.
They feature well-crafted stone facades that will not be altered on the street side, and are in keeping with the very mineral landscape of Paris, presenting typologies and volumetrics similar to the surrounding buildings.
The project is designed to bring the buildings and facilities up to full functional, technical, safety, environmental and PRM accessibility standards.
The monumental staircase at the end of the hall will be enhanced. The surrounding masonry facade will be replaced by a curtain wall, creating a transparent link between the hall and the newly planted courtyard.
The environmental aspect of the program will aim for double certification: HQE, BREEAM.
